Choose Kindness

I'm sure you've seen all these posts floating around about being kind..... and I"m sure you've read them and thought, "wow! yes! great idea!" But have you stopped to think about how you can implement it in your life?  My brain is filled with all these cool ideas on how to treat others nicely, things to do for neighbors, ways to reach out to others, etc. But it's hard to follow through when it's just an idea. Sometimes I have to sit back and really think through tangible ways I can show kindness to others. Society now is so full of negativity and in need of uplifting for everyone.  Sure, we read the heart warming stories sometimes and try hard to focus on those but the reality is still there where negativity is more present than the positive.

So what if..... we started a challenge. Right here. Right now. The challenge is to sit in silence for a moment and think. When someone pops into your mind, write it down. Write down the names of 5 people and reach out to them today. Maybe you're not into praying but each day I start with a prayer. I pray that people will be put on my mind who need a little encouragement today. I then take it upon myself to reach out and/or do something nice for those people. If you don't have a lot of ideas or resources, a simple message, e mail, or phone call can go a LONG way.

Let's brainstorm some ideas of how to show that you care.  Some of our favorites are baking treats, distributing drawings from my kids or having them color pictures for people we know, sending cards, leaving little notes, paying for the person behind you in the drive thru line, etc.   Can you think of some other things?

I am encouraging you TODAY to think of 5 people and reach out to them. Share kindness instead of negativity. Let's cause an awesome ripple effect and show this world that we really care and really want to see change.

Once you reach out to five people, comment on this blog or on my facebook post with "done." Let's see how many people we can reach today!

(we like to make cookies or some other type of baked goods for friends)
