Broken&Beautiful
As I sat here with my kiddos, and scroll through some memes and things, it all sparked an idea for this post. So often we are told we are broken. So often we focus on the negative. So often we focus on where we need to improve, we focus on the guilt, we focus on the things we handled poorly today.
In some ways, it can be beneficial to us. Improvement is something we always need to be striving for. It helps us grow, learn, change. But what if we focused today, on the things we do really well? What if in the morning, we remind ourselves of the things we are great at? Maybe you can't think of anything right now.... so keep thinking! Make a list! Sit on it, pray on it, get out that pen and paper and write it out. What did you handle well today? Maybe it was a minor (or major) conflict that you would not normally handle with grace. Maybe you made a really awesome meal for your family. Maybe you kept the counters clean? Maybe it's just that you kept the kids alive... that's a BIG plus!
What are you good at? This sort of goes along with my last post about finding your gifts and talents and sharing them with others. Take a moment to focus on your strengths. For me, I am creative, a good friend, a pretty decent housekeeper, a great teacher to my kids, an attentive wife..... a counselor. Believe me, the list of my weaknesses is TOTALLY endless but today, I will focus on what I'm good at. It lifts my mood. It gives me a good spirit. It helps me to focus on my God-given talents, my blessings, and think positively and who couldn't use more of that in their life??
We are all broken. We all have our struggles. We are all less than awesome sometimes. We all lose our cool. We all get our priorities mixed up every now and again. We are all flawed. This world is sad sometimes. We yell. We fight. We are selfish. WE ALL HAVE THESE ISSUES SOMETIMES! Let's not let that define us. Depression, anxiety, stress, worry. You are more than that. Of course it is still a part of your life but it doesn't have to be your WHOLE life. Think of some of the things you're really good at. Big and/or small. Build yourself up. You've got this!
Happy Friday, my friends! You're AWESOME!
