Gifts & Talents

In a perfect world..... what would you choose your gifts/talents to be?

 I always wanted to be good at volleyball.... or singing.... why? I have zero clue but it sounds fun. Plus, watching all the talent at church really blows me away. Their singing is INCREDIBLE.

 Now, focus for a moment on what you ARE good at. Are you good at being a friend? Do you have a hobby that could benefit others?  Are you a good listener?  Are you great at motivating others? Are you a morning person? Are you good with numbers/budgeting? Now think of how you can extend that to others. I think so often we focus on what we can do to make money and that makes sense, we need money to live. But what if you choose to give/help others just because? What if you did it just to spread kindness? What if you extend your gifts and talents onto your community because... because it's really awesome to be giving?

 I pray every day that my children remember how giving we are as parents. How giving we are with our money, our time, our talent. As believers, we try to be "others focused/centered." Our joy comes from tithing even when it's hard. Even though we know that we could have been car and student loan debt free if we didn't. Why? Because we know that money is for God. We know that money is going to amazing things. We know that we have plenty of resources where we are at and not everyone has that. We give our time by volunteering. Not just at church but on a daily basis. We give away our time, our focus, our love. I wouldn't want it any other way! We haven't always been this way but I can truly see a change in our family since we switched our focus and it has been incredible. Stressful at times? Of course! That's normal! But our hearts are full, as well as our schedule sometimes. Not to mention the really incredible people we have met along the way. Life changing.

 So, I want to challenge you today to think of some of your gifts and talents and how you can share it with others. Why? Because we can make this world better by doing so. We can make the future better for our kids. We can be great role models to our kids/family/friends.  It's not always about the money. It's often about the experience, what you learn in the journey, and building others up.  Sometimes that's all it takes!

How Do You Do It?

I often get asked, "how do you do it all?"  This, I'm assuming, refers to being the mother of three kiddos.... 7 1/2, almost 3, and then an almost 4 month old.  I also homeschool, volunteer at my church nearly every single weekend, read my Bible several times a day, keep a somewhat clean house, fairly minimalist, crafty, cook and bake some delicious things from time to time....  The truth is.... I don't do it.  I do it sometimes, or do somethings, but I lack in other areas. Most days my house is fairly spotless.  I was obsessed before but even more once my mom passed away. She always kept a clean, tidy house smelling of bleach and/or pinesol. HA! She set the bar high. I really just flow better, feel better, and parent better when I have a clean and tidy space. Your Tribe

Have you ever been surrounded by so many people but still felt lonely? With the abundance and popularity of social media/phones, etc. This feeling makes total sense to me. While technology is amazing and I am SO thankful for it, being 1,000 miles away from all family... it really shouldn't be used to totally replace those relationships.  Do you ever just sit and chat with a friend in person and feel totally renewed after? Being at home with little ones 24/7 makes me realize just how much I appreciate those relationships even more. For friends to make me a priority and willing to visit even though they know with certainty that we will be disrupted, means everything. I go through stages where I want to get out of the house every day... and then stages where I never want to leave. This highly depends on the weather and also the stage of life I'm in with littles. I have learned a better balance. I have paid attention to what makes me feel renewed and what totally stresses me out. T...
